The Southeastern US has a long history of wildland fire activity, from Native American land management and natural ignitions to present day wildfires and prescribed fire use. Today, wildfires in the Southeast stem from both human and natural origins and prescribed fire is actively utilized to meet land management objectives in forestry, agriculture, and ecosystem restoration. Through collaboration, technology, experience, and education, the risks associated with wildland fire can be minimized. By highlighting regional case studies, opportunities to learn from others experience is increased. The featured success stories on this website demonstrate how the Southeast is improving its fire-resiliency and actively supporting activities outlined in the Cohesive Fire Strategy.
